Golden Era

It has been 622 days since you took the oath of office as the 17th President of the Philippines, Mr. Marcos. You were the beneficiary of misinformation, bullying, and so much more. You have the highest position in the Philippines so you must know that being a president is a big responsibility.  Yet, you keep faling us Filipinos. I wished your apologists were right about you.  As a Filipino, it is my earnest belief that open and constructive dialogue is crucial for the progress and betterment of our nation.

Firstly, I must convey my concern about the issue of corruption that has tarnished the integrity of your administration, rooting from your father, a former dictator. Instances of alleged malfeasance and mismanagement have surfaced, causing distress among us, Filipinos and raising concerns about the ethical conduct of the government.

Moreover, there have been widespread allegations of wrongdoings during your tenure, which have led to a loss of trust in the leadership. One of my key concerns, the Confidential Funds. I am very much intrigued on how a president could easily approve a billion funds for the OVP since there is no good reason why the OVP should have confidential fund allocations that are larger than the combined confidential budgets of our top security agencies. With our latest state, it appears that we are indeed in a golden era. Golden   prices, Golden economy.

While it is essential to acknowledge the complexities of governance, it is equally crucial to uphold the highest standards of accountability and transparency, thereby fostering an environment of trust and credibility within the public sphere.

In contemporary Filipino activism, redtagging has become an all-too-familiar tactic. Mere criticism of the government often leads to being labeled as part of the "NPA," while peaceful rallies are distorted as violent acts by higher authorities. It's disheartening to witness the pervasive aversion to the truth among Filipinos, hindering our collective progress. We have to speak up if we want change. Change for the future, Change for us Filipinos.

With five more years remaining in your term, the Filipino people you serve earnestly hope that you will wield your position with utmost responsibility.
