Every day is a Teacher's Day

"A teacher's sacrifice today is a brighter future for all." - Unknown. We should learn to reflect on the incredible impact educators have on our lives. Personally, every day feels like Teacher's Day, having the privilege of seeing the dedication and passion of teachers up close is enough for everyday to be a teacher's day. As someone who grew up with both parents being teachers, I gained a unique perspective on the role they play in shaping our future. To this day, I still apply the lessons my parents has taught me, and I believe this is true to other students as well.

In the span of 10 years of studying, I learned that teachers are temporary but who they are and what they teach is what makes them permanent deep in my heart. They are the ones who tirelessly work day in and day out to share knowledge, inspire curiosity, and nurture the potential within each student. Yet, it's easy to take their efforts for granted because we interact with them almost every day. From the first day of school to graduation and beyond, teachers guide us through the maze of learning and growth.

One sad fact is how the dedication of teachers especially Filipino teachers, is met with inadequate financial compensation. Filipino teachers make sacrifices that are not noticed. When no budget is allocated for them, they spend their own money for their students who are not privileged enough, classroom funds, and learning tools. The burden of these extra expenses falls on their shoulders: their income gets even smaller. When a teacher is underpaid, the risk of losing a teacher gets higher. A quality education is a privilege which is why teachers shouldn't be underpaid as they can struggle to provide the best learning experience for their students with proper salary and can lead to an improved methods and resources.

Teachers are the asset of the Philippines. It is very important for us to be vocal about the inadequate salary of teachers and to recognize each of their sacrifices. They are the ones that build a brighter future for the Philippines.
